About

Rosalind is a soprano who specialises in contemporary music and coloratura repertoire.

She read English Literature at Magdalene College Cambridge, before completing her vocal masters at the Royal College of Music in London. She then went on to study at the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, in Glasgow. She was a 2023/24 Young Artist at the National Opera Studio in London.

This season she has worked with Garsington Opera, Opera North, and the Royal Ballet and Opera, where she covered the role of Mette for Antony Turnage’s Festen. She is currently appearing as Lena in Bampton Classical Opera’s production of La Locandiera.

Upcoming projects include Vier Letze Lieder (Strauss) in Zürich, a trumpet recital with Euan MacDougall, and Elle in La Voix Humaine with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra.

Operatic roles include: Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Controller (Flight), Laoula (L’Etoile), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring), Gretel/Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Sophie (Werther), Norina (Don Pasquale) Cunegonde (Candide), Despina (Cosi fan Tutte) and Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos).

Rosalind is also an experienced oratorio singer and recitalist, performing at venues including St Martin in the fields, St John Smith Sloane Square, Cadogan Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Sheldonian Oxford and The Carnegie Hall. She has sung works including The John Passion, Bach Magnificat, Haydn’s Creation, Mozart Mass in C Minor and Haydn’s Nelson Mass.

As well as singing the standard repertoire, Rosalind also loves and specialises in contemporary music. She has a long-standing relationship with the Tete-a-Tete Opera festival in London, creating roles for them in collaboration with composers; Lady of the Lake (King Arthur, Hans Vercauteren), Soprano (A Guide to the Lakes, Hans Vercauteren and Lente Verelst), Arianna (The Burning Question, Ed Lambert) and Leading Lady (Buster’s Trip, Ed Lambert). Rosalind has also performed contemporary works including Stimmung (Stockhausen), Cantata (Birtwistle), King Harald’s Saga (Judith Weir) and The Monstrous Child (Gavin Higgins). Rosalind was also selected for a Britten Pears Residency, workshopping a new opera by Ben Lunn. Rosalind has performed a number of works for composer Nino Russell, and most recently has completed the libretto of his newest work, a one-act opera called Medusa.

Rosalind was the 2021 winner of the Ye Cronies Opera Award, and has also received other prizes including the Sybil Tutton Opera Award, the Royal College of Music ‘Rising Star Award’ and grants from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and Kathleen Trust.
