Rosalind is a coloratura soprano based between London and Vienna.

 

This season’s engagements have included Elle, La Voix Humaine with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Father/Son, Absent Fathers for Birmingham Opera, cover Dorinda, Orlando for Longborough Festival Opera, and Gretel, Hansel and Gretel, also for Longborough Festival Opera. She also makes her debut with the Royal Northern Sinfonia, premiering a new song cycle by composer Ben Lunn. 

 

She studied English Literature at Magdalene College Cambridge, before completing her vocal masters at the Royal College of Music in London. She then went on to study at the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, in Glasgow. 

 

Rosalind is a recent graduate of the National Opera Studio, where she was a 2023/4 Young Artist on their Global Talent scheme. She worked with renowned directors and conductors including Keith Warner, Karen Kamensek, Adele Thomas and Emma Jenkins. She also studied under internationally regarded coaches Brindley Sherratt, Rachel Nicholls, Martin Pacey, Tobias Truniger and Susan Bullock. During this year, she participated in residencies at the biggest UK companies, ENO, Glyndebourne, WNO, Scottish Opera and Opera North, where she appeared in scenes as Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Sophie (Werther), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Norina (Don Pasquale) and Fiorilla (Il Turco in Italia). 

 

Last season Rosalind worked with many prominent UK companies, including the Royal Ballet and Opera, where she covered the role of Mette in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Festen, Opera North, Garsington Opera and Bampton Classical Opera.

 

Rosalind was a Garsington 2023 Alvarez Young Artist, covering Naiad in Ariadne auf Naxos as well as singing in their OperaFirst production of The Bartered Bride as Esmeralda. She was the 2021 winner of the Ye Cronies Opera Award and a 2024 Semi-finalist for Cascais Opera. Rosalind has also received other prizes including the Sybil Tutton Opera Award, the Royal College of Music ‘Rising Star Award’ and grants from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and Kathleen Trust. During her studies at the National Opera Studio, she was generously sponsored by the Carne Trust and Help Musicians UK.

 

Operatic roles include: Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Controller (Flight), Laoula (L’Etoile), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring), Gretel/Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel), Olympia (Les Contes D’Hoffmann), Cunegonde (Candide), Despina (Cosi fan Tutte) and Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos).

 

Rosalind is also an experienced oratorio singer and recitalist, performing at venues including St Martin in the fields, St John Smith Sloane Square, Cadogan Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Sheldonian Oxford and The Carnegie Hall. She has sung works including The John Passion, Bach Magnificat, Haydn’s Creation, Mozart Mass in C Minor and Haydn’s Nelson Mass.

 

As well as singing the standard repertoire, Rosalind also loves and specialises in contemporary music. She has a long-standing relationship with the Tete-a-Tete Opera festival in London, creating roles for them in collaboration with composers; Lady of the Lake (King Arthur, Hans Vercauteren), Soprano (A Guide to the Lakes, Hans Vercauteren and Lente Verelst), Arianna (The Burning Question, Ed Lambert) and Leading Lady (Buster’s Trip, Ed Lambert). Rosalind has also performed contemporary works including Stimmung (Stockhausen), Cantata (Birtwistle), King Harald’s Saga (Judith Weir) and The Monstrous Child (Gavin Higgins). Rosalind was also selected for a Britten Pears Residency, workshopping a new opera by Ben Lunn. Rosalind has performed a number of works for composer Nino Russell, including Vesuvius and Zodiac, and most recently has completed the libretto of his newest work, a short opera called Medusa. 

 

During the Covid Pandemic, Rosalind coordinated the Open University’s REVE: An online exhibition, bringing together composers and objects to create soundscapes for the OU’s online exhibition of author’s artefacts.
